Children: Godly Play (Ages 4 to 10)
Godly Play is our parish’s Sunday School program for children ages 4 through 10. Dr. Jerome Berryman, an Episcopal priest, developed the program using a Montessori-based approach to nurture and grow faith in children.
Godly Play recognizes the innate spirituality of children.
Everything that happens in a Godly Play classroom—lighting of the candle, listening to stories from the Old and New Testament, stories of baptism and eucharist, sharing in a feast—all serve to create sacred space where children can grow close to God.
Each Sunday, children are welcomed by an adult greeter and are invited to
sit in a circle with the storyteller, who will share the Godly Play Story of the day. Adults involved in Godly Play recognize that this is a time of engagement and wonder that shapes and deepens the faith of our children.
Godly play begins at 9:00 am in the Little House. Children rejoin their parents for Holy Communion.
