How We Worship
We Gather
The Priest begins the Eucharist with the Words: Blessed be God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. The gathered community responds: And Blessed Be God's People. The act of blessing God and blessing each other is grounded in the understanding of Covenant: God's desire to be in relationship with us. As we gather, we remember who we are and to whom we belong.
We Listen and Reflect
In listening to Holy Scripture and the Preacher's Sermon, we continue our ongoing conversation with God. We listen with the "eyes of our hearts" to see ourselves in a new light, to see ourselves as part of God's vision.
We Circle Around the Table
Jesus delighted in table fellowship. He often spoke of God's love and God's ways over a meal. Living in Covenant with God nourishes us and transforms us. At the last meal, Jesus told his friends he would be known to them in the breaking of the bread. Jesus was telling his friends that death and brokenness will not have the last word, God's healing, creative and self-giving love will. As we receive the broken bread into our hands, we encounter the brokenness and vulnerability of Christ on the Cross and the Power of New Life.
We Go Into the World
We become living symbols, bread for others, a source of nourishment for a hungry world.
